A large percentage of Korean men are concerned that the women they date could have been involved in the sex industry, a recent survey revealed.

The poll by marriage agencies Bien-Aller and Only-U asked 534 single Korean men and women what they feared and hoped for when it came to potential life partners.

A whopping 34.5 percent of Korean men are concerned that potential mates may have been involved in the sex trade, the survey found.

Meanwhile, 36.3 percent of the women said their husband’s previous relationships were the source of the most anxiety.

Asked about the best life experience for a potential husband to have had, most women chose studying abroad.

Living abroad can hint at a brighter (economic) future for men…so those who lived abroad are thought of as husband material,” Bien-Aller consultant Cho Mi-hyun said.
